A day of climbing and hiking is always better with a full, delicious, hearty breakfast. Josh made eggs, bacon and crepes, with plenty of fruit! We then headed out to Devil’s Lake for some tope rope fun.
For our climb today, we parked off S. Lake Rd. Then, hiked up the West Bluff, which is also part of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. The West Bluff Trail is much nicer than our beloved CCC trail – but steep nonetheless. We hiked around a bit before settling in to our climbing destination. Although we’ve climbed this area before, I am still always amazed at the rock formations and cliffs. I can never get enough of it.
Josh took care of setting up all the anchors because I am just not that savvy when it comes to ropes and anchors. Bouldering has always been more my thing – and have never taken as much of an interest in setting up anchors. Now that we tend to rope climb more often, I’ll try to get this skill set under my belt. But, Josh is a pro at it and, obviously, I trust him with my life. I always feel 100% safe when he sets up the anchors.
We climbed in the Misery Rocks and The Pantry area. Pretty easy climbs but a nice way to get back on the rocks after a long winter. And, as always, the best part about climbing or hiking is always getting to spend time with my hubbs.
After a nice full day in the great outdoors, we decided to check out Tumbled Rocks Brewery and kitchen. We tried their burgers, and of course, their beer. Everything was so good, we even decided to get dessert! We’ll definitely be coming back to this place.
All in all, a great day. Looking forward to next time.
